Hey everyone. Got some news to relate. Back in fall of 2020, my great-aunt Carol passed away, and my family and I went up to Cleveland to attend her funeral service, as well as try to get started taking care of the legal stuff like what to do with her old house, and whatnot. Well, we've finally found an apparent buyer for the place, and - thanks to a lot of waiting to deal with legal bureaucracy and a mail system that's been horribly gummed up by everything from election time to Christmas to the pandemic - we're got most of the paperwork settled and accounted for. My father and I will be driving up through tomorrow and Monday to Cleveland, to make one last sweep of the old house and make sure that everything's been accounted for, close out any remaining business (with the lawyer, the local bank, et cetera) and hopefully... hopefully, get it all settled and squared away. This will be brief but this is something I want to do for fun since this was a trend on social media today. It was this. Which character from film and TV represents you the best? Not necessarily everything, but one that captures your personality and persona the best? For me, it would be Dipper Pines from Gravity Falls. He's awkward, shy, neurotic, has a weird sounding voice (at least to him), is loyal, cares about his family, isn't overly macho and loves pop music. He fits me so well that it's almost a bit scary. I wouldn't even be surprised if he was autistic like I am. In fact, Dipper is based on the creator of the show and his name is Alex Hirsch. The creator and I have the same first name. There are other characters I relate to a lot like Charlie Brown and Arnold from Hey Arnold! and I definitely share personality traits with them but Dipper is me. When cons come back, I'd like to cosplay as him if only I could get my hands on his signature hat and after I've done the Angry Video

As I'm sure everybody knows, this has been a year full of a lot of crap in a lot of different ways. But all the same, I'm very grateful that it's Christmas, and grateful for the fact that I was able to spend it with my parents, and that we have managed to keep good health through this whole ordeal with the pandemic... to say nothing of the fact that we were able to have Christmas in spite of some pretty impressive winter weather on the night of the 24th. Gotta be thankful for the little miracles. While, naturally, it was a pretty quiet day here, I can't say I had a bad time by any means. I got some very nice presents and am very grateful to all the people who provided them. These range from good old standbys like money (always useful, and appreciated!) to some more surprising items too - my wonderful sister @AuraMajesty decided to gift me with a freaking Japanese tea set (a reference to my love for Samurai Jack, apparently :XD: ) - as well as a variety of my favored friends, books.

I just dropped off the face of the Earth for over four months, didn't I? I hope you hadn't assumed that I succumbed to Covid and had already put memories of me six feet under in lock and key. Though my entertainment certainly succumbed to Covid. I mean, I reviewed movies for most of my deviations here. What was I supposed to do when going to a theater nowadays means walking into a sealed space full of potential viruses just waiting to reduce me to a pile of organic mush groaning in my bed? That said, you aren't free from this either, DA. One update and you completely threw me off of what I could write, how I should write, and trying to find suitable replacements for them. Which is a part of the reason I spoke up today. I mean, another part was so that you guys knew I was alive. Over the past several days, about a week now, The AV Club has been doing a feature once a day where a rotating group of writers cover a Pixar movie - going in chronological order from the original Toy Story - and discuss a different aspect of them. (i.e. in the Toy Story 1 article, the writer there talks about the strength of Woody's characterization as a jealous and flawed hero, but one who ultimately comes through as a good guy. Toy Story 2, the writer there highlights Jessie's past and the "When She Loved Me" song as the linchpin of the movie. And so on and so forth.)
